al Qaeda abandons camps in Waziristan

Bill Roggio recounts an ominous possible reason for Qaeda's move:
"This is one of the reasons that we are worried about a major CONUS [Continental United States] attack," the senior military intelligence source told The Fourth Rail, noting the recent influx of news of terror cells attempting to penetrate the US. "If they evacuated their bases, they almost certainly did so out of fear of more than just the Pakistani army."
I hope Qaeda's fear is just a general caution in light of recent indications that the US might be getting ready to bomb the camps.

In any case high level Qaeda operatives and senior Taliban leaders have melted into Waziristan's general population, making them even harder to target.

Meanwhile, there is worry about Pakistan's nuclear arsenal if President Musharraf falls. See Bill's report.
