-- Barack Obama, April 6
"What I was saying is that when economic hardship hits in these communities, what people have is they've got family, they've got their faith, they've got the traditions that have been passed onto them from generation to generation. Those aren't bad things. That's what they have left."
-- Barack Obama, April 13
For a second day, Mr. Obama sought to explain his remarks at a recent San Francisco fund-raiser that small-town Pennsylvania voters, bitter over their economic circumstances, “cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them” as a way to explain their frustrations.I do not know, and I am not sure I want to know, why the Times doesn't like the word "bitter" coming from Mr Obama's mouth. Maybe they're beginning to wonder where the bunny is, too.
