Russia announces successful completion of Syria war plan first phase

Sometimes, just sometimes, things go according to plan. [smiling] This is one of those times. The start of Russian troop withdrawal tomorrow from Syria, as with the cessation of hostilities agreement and the schedules for both, was always an integral part of the strategy. 

All-in-all, it's been one of those rare times this century when grownups have managed to take charge.

So. A deep breath before phase two, and a brief look back at key players during moments in the amazing past five months -- and a too-small tribute to the great fighting men who made the civilian leaders' role in the plan a success.
