BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:15 P.M.) - More than 1,000 militants from a number of different rebel factions surrendered themselves to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on Friday after their forces lost approximately 90 percent of the east Aleppo pocket, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Friday.

The militants reportedly surrendered themselves to the Syrian Arab Army at both the Bustan Al-Qasir and Sheikh Sa'eed districts in east Aleppo earlier today.

One of the promises offered to the militants that surrendered today is the consideration of amnesty, which will absolve them from any crime that does not involve killing or kidnapping civilians in Aleppo.

Most of the rebel militants were reportedly from the Fatah Halab coalition, which includes groups like Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).
[END REPORT]

Slowly but surely the SAA is grinding down the forces. They've had to work carefully because of the large number of civilians involved.
