US Army Lieutenant General Stephen Townsend [Commander, Operation Inherent Resolve] warned via a Pentagon video briefing on Wednesday that ISIS will use armored vehicles and air defense equipment it captured from the Syrian Army in Palmyra over the weekend.

"I'm not really exactly sure ... what they've seized there. We believe it includes some armored vehicles and various guns and other heavy weapons, possibly some air defense equipment," said Townsend, warning that the new gain could end up dangerous for the US-led coalition, which is engaged in airstrikes purportedly against Daesh [Islamic State/ISIS].

"Basically anything they seized poses a threat to the coalition but we can manage those threats and we will."

He then went onto explain that the US may strike the captured military equipment.

[END REPORT]

Um, why telegraph to the enemy a possible  intention to bomb the captured materiel? sigh.
