Will the U.S. help ISIS stay entrenched in the Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus?

That would be par for the course. Of course afterward they would say,  'We didn't know we were bombing Palestinian fighters trying to liberate the camp from Islamic State.' Yeah, right.

Anyhow, AMN is reporting today that the Syrian Arab Army is readying a military operation to finally clear the vast refugee camp and other pockets in southern Damascus where IS captured territory

Is that wise at this time, given that an American-led bombing raid on Damascus could begin soon? There is talk that IS is planning to take advantage of any such situation. So I'd think it would behoove the Syrian army to eject IS from Damascus as fast as possible. However, the clearing operation has long been on the SAA To-do list; the timing may have nothing to do with external factors.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:50 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is preparing to kickoff their long-awaited offensive to retake the southern districts of Damascus, a military source told Al-Masdar News this morning.

Led by their Republican Guard and 4th Division, the Syrian Arab Army has taken up their positions around the Islamic State (ISIS) held areas in the Yarmouk Camp and Al-Qadam districts of southern Damascus.

Joining the Syrian Arab Army on this offensive will be their Palestinian allies from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC), Fatah Al-Intifada, Liwaa Al-Quds, and Qawat Al-Jaleel.

According to a military source in Damascus, the offensive is ready to launch in the coming hours, despite the looming threat of a potential U.S. attack.
