BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:50 P.M.) – The U.S. military has begun patrolling the streets of Manbij, following the withdrawal of the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Video footage of the U.S. troops patrolling Manbij was released by pro-SDF media activists on Thursday; it shows the troops meeting with civilians and checking different parts of the city to ensure its security.

Recently the U.S., France, and Turkey agreed to take over the city from the YPG in order to [prevent] the Turkish military from launching an offensive to capture Manbij.

Also inside the city is the Manbij Military Council, which is  comprised of local Arabs who helped capture the area from the Islamic State (ISIS) in 2016.
