Trump fires General John Bolton

If you don't remember John Bolton is a general, neither did President Trump and that was the problem. It's being called a 'shock' announcement but not even the way Trump got rid of Bolton was a surprise. As usual, Bolton was trying to control Trump. In this case he Tweeted today: "I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, 'Let's talk about it tomorrow.' "

Trump talking about it tomorrow turned out to be Trump telling Bolton on Monday to turn in his resignation by today, which Trump noted in one of his own Tweets today.

For more on the dueling Tweets here's a summary of the mess from Sputnik.  As to who's going to replace Bolton as NSC advisor, from Sputnik:
Trump said he would name a person to replace Bolton next week, while the White House announced that Charles Martin Kupperman [deputy National Security Advisor] would serve as interim national security advisor.
The problem for Trump, aside from not remembering the Battle of Bunker Hill, is that Bolton could never have become NSC chief without strong support from the Natoists in Washington, who have ruled U.S. defense policy since the Cold War days.

Those people are not going to take Bolton's departure lying down.
