British twaddle done up as Ukraine war reports

The Duran's Alexander Mercouris, who resides in London, is exasperated with the great liberties British media have taken in reporting on the war in Ukraine.

Biden, NATO, UK, Poland ponder options to counter Russia - YouTube -The Duran March 24  (His discussion starts around the 1 minute mark.)

Heck, the British practically have a patent on war twaddle, as their reporting on the War Against Assad (Syrian War) evidenced. They told so many whoppers the only way to get an idea of what was going on in Syria from the British was to assume the opposite of whatever they reported. Same with Ukraine.

But why lie to their own troops (British 'mercenaries') in Ukraine, which is what has been going on? Alexander's guess can be heard starting around the 9:27 minute mark.

The guess is plausible -- basically, the British are intent on keeping up appearances -- but still doesn't explain why the British government would lie to even to the point of harming British troops.

I think you'd need to look at what happened to British troops in Helmand during the U.S.-led NATO war in Afghanistan. There was so much unnecessary slaughter of those troops that two high-ranking British officers resigned in protest about the way the operation in Helmand was conducted.

My guess would be that a view has evolved at the highest level of government that in the modern era politicians, not generals, win wars. With this view a kind of class prejudice has settled in about soldiering.

I think the government also sees the military as the 'last bastion' of their society's traditional values, which the government wants relegated to the past.

I'd day the observation holds true as well for the United States.
