America's NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel (very smart, very fluent in Arabic) interviewing captured Islamic State fighters

From his Twitter page, March 8:

Surrendering ISIS men tell me they were just cooks, cleaners and bottle-washers. I said, “With so many cooks you must have had great food.” Got No laughs.

Meanwhile, soon-to-retire General Joseph Votel, chief of U.S. Centcom, told Congress last Thursday that while Islamic State has suffered major defeats in Syria the survivors are  "unrepentant, unbroken," as they go underground. 

Translation: The U.S. will just have to stay on in Syria to ferret the rats from their tunnels.
