By making the threat to Assad public the Trump regime was actively interfering in reconciliation talks

The U.S. foreign office publicly delivered the threat on Thursday evening. This was during the middle of the critical 48 hour period the Syrian army had given insurgents in S.W. Syria to engage in reconciliation talks or face attack.

The pressure to negotiate was removed from the insurgents once the U.S. announced it would take strong action if the SAA started operations in S.W. Syria.

I don't know whether the announcement forced the SAA to extend the deadline but in any case it's been extended, as I noted yesterday.

I await the next move by the Trump regime to support al Qaeda in Syria.
