ISIS FURTHER RETREATING ALONG HOMS-PALMYRA HIGHWAY UNDER SYRIAN ARMY’S PRESSURE

Local sources say that the terrorist group is now preparing to defend the ancient city of Palmyra from the Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF).

Earlier today, government forces set control over the Hayan gas company and the nearby gas fields.

Now, the army and the NDF are developing an advance in the direction of Bir Mahritan, preparing a push in the direction of Palmyra.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army attacked the terrorists in Damascus province, and inflicted heavy losses on them.

The Syrian army killed and wounded scores of terrorists in Eastern and Western territories of Damascus province.

The Syrian army also inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist groups in other key regions across Syria.

Damascus

Syrian Army troops opened heavy fire at two key positions of al-Nusra Front (recently renamed to Fatah al-Sham Front) in Western Ghouta, inflicting major casualties on the terrorists.

The army's missile units targeted al-Nusra Front's gathering and concentration centers in the village of Moqr al-Mir and Tal (hill) Marwan heavily, killing at least 24 militants and destroying their equipment.

The army's artillery also targeted terrorists' positions in Tayibeh area in Jobar region in Eastern Ghouta in response to the terrorists' attack on one of the positions of the army.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) disclosed that nine ISIL terrorists were killed in clashes with the army men near al-Seen airbase in Eastern Qalamoun.

SOHR added that ISIL has sustained 31 casualties in Eastern Qalamoun since January 21.

Reports said earlier on Friday that the army troops fended off ISIL's offensive on their positions in the Eastern slopes of al-Qalamoun Mountains, killing and wounding a number of terrorists.

The army positions came under a heavy assault by ISIL, but the government forces repelled the main part of the terrorists' attack, killing several militants in the process.

The army troops further reinvigorated their front in al-Safa Peak in order to maintain control over the areas they recently liberated.

Despite the heavy assault by the terrorist group, the army men were capable of warding off the main massive attack. The army is now defending its positions against a number of pursuing attacks by the terrorists that are waged on a smaller-scale, of course, reports said.

Following the ISIL’s attack on al-Safa Peak, the army’s Qalamoun Shield of the 3rd Armored Division carried out a counter-assault to liberate the Battalion 559 base that is situated along the Eastern slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains.

Hama

Syrian Army's artillery units opened heavy fire at the positions and gatherings of terrorist groups in Southern Hama, killing and wounding a number of militants.

The army's artillery units targeted terrorists' concentration centers near the village of Aqrab in Southern Hama, leaving a number of militants dead and wounded.

The warplanes meantime attacked terrorist groups' positions in the village of Aqrab in Southern Hama twice, killing and wounding a number of militants.

Terrorists' military hardware also sustained major damage in the attack.

Idlib

The Syrian Air Force launched massive strikes on terrorists' gatherings and concentration centers in the provinces of Idlib, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

The army aircraft hit the positions of al-Nusra Front (recently renamed to Fatah al-Sham Front) in Idlib city in Northwestern Syria, leaving a number of terrorists dead and several more wounded.

Homs

Syrian Army soldiers continued their offensives against the gatherings and positions of ISIL terrorists in Eastern Homs, establishing control over more villages, positions and roads.

The army men struck ISIL's defense line and drove the terrorists out of the village of al-Hattaniyeh and Bir al-Marhatan region, killing and wounding a large number of terrorists and destroying three vehicles equipped with machineguns.

The army also established control over the strategic Jahar intersection to the East of the Fourth Station on Homs-Palmyra road, after inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists.

The army units expanded control in the Western direction of Palmyra in the course of their continued large-scale operation against the ISIL terrorists.

The army troops, meantime, advanced towards al-Beida al-Sharqiyeh village and the road to al-Maher gas field, hunting fleeing ISIL terrorists and killing many of them.

In the meantime, terrorists' defense lines near the town of al-Houleh in Northern Homs came under several attacks by the Syrian fighter jets.

Deir Ezzur

Syrian Army troops and popular forces warded off continued attacks of ISIL on their positions in the Southern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city after inflicting a number of casualties on the militants.

The army soldiers and popular fighters, backed up by the Syrian warplanes, clashed fiercely with ISIL terrorists and repelled their attacks on a number of military posts in the surroundings of Deir Ezzur military airport and Liwa al-Tamin (security brigade).

The ISIL suffered heavy casualties and its military hardware sustained major damage in the failed attacks.

Sweida

The Syrian Air Force carried out several combat sorties over ISIL's positions and movements in Eastern Sweida, destroying an arms depot and a large fuel tanker.

The warplanes bombed heavily ISIL's concentration centers and movements to the South of Beir al-Rasi'ei near al-Roshdiyeh, destroying a large depot of arms and ammunition, a large oil tanker and a military vehicle.

The ISIL also suffered a heavy death toll in the air attack.

Dara'a

A sum of 48 terrorists of Liwa Brouj al-Sham affiliated with the Free Syrian Army (FSA), including their commander, were killed in ISIL's ambush in Western Dara'a, a pro-ISIL group said in a statement.

The pro-ISIL Jeish Khaled bin al-Waleed ambushed a gathering of rival terrorists of Liwa Brouj al-Sham that were preparing to launch an attack on Sahem al-Joulan dam, in al-Yarmouk region, killing 33 militants, including a commander known a Mohammad Ali al-Ta'ani.

In the meantime, local activists reported that 11 rebels of Liwa Brouj al-Sham, including a senior commander, were killed in the ISIL's ambush and many more were wounded.

Reports also disclosed that over 48 militants have been killed in clashes between ISIL and FSA.
