Amer Moshen reports for Iraq Slogger that according to today's London-based Al-Hayat newspaper, the Sadrist MP Baha al-Araji denied that his party "participated in any discussions to unseat Nuri al-Maliki."
If the MP is indeed speaking for the entire Sadrist bloc in Parliament, this could be a knockout punch to Ayad Allawi's campaign to build a powerful coalition against Maliki.
Amer observes, "Without Sadr's 30 parliamentary seats ... attempts to remove Maliki would be near impossible."
A straw to clutch at might be that Sadrists were miffed that Allawi has been blabbing about negotiations with opposition parties.
