Note the article was published years before the Russians made war on Ukraine's Nazis. Granted, the article is lengthy, and while well-written makes for hard reading on a topic many today don't want to face.
The excuse back then was that Nazism was a lesser evil than Soviet communism. On close inspection the arguments supporting the excuse do not square. In any case by using Nazis against the Soviets, NATO opened Pandora's Box.
