The Mother of All Sumo Competitions: Ready, Set, Cry!

And the winner is -- I think it was a tie

It's the annual Sumo toddler bawling competition, a 400 year-old tradition in Japan that may not bring good luck as claimed but sure brings good laughs.  And maybe a little payback for parents of toddlers who rule the roost through tantrums.

Of course this would be considered toddler abuse by the contingent in the United States that sees everything in life as a violation of human rights.  I think it shows the Japanese have a great sense of humor.

See the AFP report that accompanies the photos for competition particulars, including what to do if a competitor perversely refuses to cry in the ring.
