Neo Geo Genius

Ryuichi Sakamoto, live performance in New York, 1988, posted to YouTube. "Neo Geo" (from the studio album of the same name) brought down the house. The first time I heard it I blurted, "What the?" Second time --

NeoGeo music, a term Ryuichi coined, isn't actuallly 'world' music, where Western musicians toss in say, some African drumming or Indian sitar playing to make it sound international. It's total integration of East-West musical sensibilities.

With genius like this, everything is still, amazingly, almost all right with the human race.

Sporting neko-mimi. Sue him, he likes cats
