Dam Mast Qalandar Mast Mast (Updated 10/15/16, 11/22/22)

UPDATE 11/27/22

UPDATE 10/15 - 11:55 PM EDT

A reader informed me earlier today (see comment, below) that the video for that particular rendering of the qawwali has been removed from YouTube. This is very sad, given the importance of that particular recording, the only one of its kind at YouTube. Many people are going to be deprived of a wonderful and unique experience by the video being removed.

I don't like to think that it was removed because I posted it here but just in case, in future I'll only post links to the YouTube videos, not the videos themselves.

All I else I can think of doing is try to locate the person who posted the video at YouTube and plead for it to be reinstated.
****END UPDATE****

Yes I know I've posted this music video before; I need to hear this qawwali before I can get through the rest of my reporting on completely ghastly news.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Co. "Dam Mast Qalandar Mast Mast" (Nelson Mandela Concert 1993, Birmingham)

Oh, maybe one more.

thank you for introducing me to qawwali
i am now a huge fan and want to find a group in my area to experience it live and in person
the drums are intoxicating
the vocalizations utterly sublime

I am so glad -- and yes, intoxicating, sublime

it appears that the video i love has been yanked away for some reason. i fell in love with it and was watching and listening to it 20 or 30 times a day learning the words and everything. do you know where to find this recording--even in a different format like cd or dvd? ive tried other versions but the drums are not as good and of course the incredible clapper is not there. its just not the same. i am heartbroken. hope you have any ideas to help

Oh dear. No I have no idea. But it will live on in memory :-)

Were you playing the video from YouTube or my site? If it was my site, a wild guess would be that the person who posted it to YouTube got ticked off? Again, just a guess.
